Feng Shui is the Chinese art, or practice, of positioning objects. It is a system of aesthetics used to achieve the maximum harmony between the Yin Yan flow of energy of in an environment, like a bedroom for instance.

We are not experts on Feng Shui, but we know mattresses and bedroom furniture and because we’re committed to help our customers “sleep better” we are happy to pass on whatever useful information we can find about improving your sleep quality. The art of Feng Shui suggests that the height and placement, the decor, the head-board and mattress quality are important factors in creating an environment where you can rest and revitalize. Here is a detailed list of Feng Shui instructions to improve the energy flow in your bedroom:

  • You should be able to see the door to the room but not be in line with it.
  • The bed should be balanced with two side tables not one.
  • The colours of the bedding should be soft muted tones.
  • Headboards made from solid wood, or upholstered are ideal for Feng Shui.
  • The mattress should be raised off the floor.
  • Avoid sleeping under heavy ceiling beams.
  • Artwork should be uplifting and uncluttered.
  • Open windows when possible.
  • Use an aromatherapy diffuser with eucalyptus, pine or tea tree oil.
  • Use soft lighting and candles.
  • Keep all the doors closed at night, including the bedroom door, closet and bathroom.
  • Feng Shui advises that you do not sleep on a used mattress.
