If you reside in an urban centre, it sure feels like living spaces are getting smaller these days. Many new condos on the market pass-off a den sized space as the second bedroom. If you are one of these homeowners who has a den-sized second bedroom here are some bedroom ideas that can help you maximise space.

Wall Beds

Wallbeds fold out from an attractive frame that stands secured against your room’s wall. There are several styles of Wallbeds incorporating shelving, cupboards and drawers into the frame to make for further conservative use of space.

There are even Wallbeds that can be used as desks or tables while not being used as a bed. The desk units include a large workspace with room behind it to hide those unsightly computer cords. When you fold the bed down, the desk simply lowers to the ground, but it stays level the entire time so no need to clear off the desk first.

Futons & Klik Klaks

Hide-a-Beds / Sofa Beds

The hide-a-bed or Sofa Bed provides you with the traditional look of a couch, with a mattress folded inside. If you are going for a more formal decor, than this is the best choice. The mattresses in these beds are thinner than those of their futon counterparts. A four inch Bonnell coil with one inch of padding comes standard, but you can upgrade to a very comfortable pocket coil mattress as well.
